Your my Singer!

Posted on at

Here's a great story of standing up for your man hood!!

Keith Richards tells a great story about Charlie Watts, legendary drummer for the Stones.

After a night of drinking, Mick saw Charlie  asleep and yelled, "Is that my drummer? Why don't you get your arse down here?"  Richards continues, "Charlie got dressed in a Savile Row suit, tie, shoes, shaved, came down, grabbed him and went boom! Don't ever call me "your drummer" again. You're my ... singer."

In my 4wks working as a drillers offsider I have seen this immature behavior from men that have a little bit of authority, they treat offsiders like shit!! The funny thing is they where once in the same postion, yet some men have adopted the belief that it's ok cause they took the shit so should the next person!!

While I understand where this belief/attitude comes from, your kidding me if you think your going to talk to me like shit!! My belief is simple, yes I have very strong alpha beliefs/attitudes, however there is only 1 captain of a ship & I'm NOT IT and I'm TOTALLY OK WITH THAT, but if you want me to follow you into battle then you LEAD  BY EXAMPLE and treat your crew with respect and fairness or we are going to have a problem a BIG PROBLEM!!

So to my fellow men, if you are in a position of influence and "power" then take the higher road and lead by example in behavior towards others and yourself. Yes, I know it's harder but it's better for you in the long run because when guys like me come along we will be your hardest and most loyal worker you can have, but you cross us and YOU WILL BE MY SINGER :-)
